The original Metroid Prime series fans will be excited to see familiar elements such as enemy scanning and morph ball actions. The reveal also introduced a new mysterious villain wearing a suit similar to Samus’s, flanked by two floating metroids. This tease has left fans speculating about the challenges Samus will face in this new installment.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has had a tumultuous development history. Nintendo first announced the game was in development over seven years ago, but the project faced several challenges.

The Metroid Prime series has been praised for successfully translating the 2D gameplay of the original Metroid games into the third dimension. The first installment was released in 2002 for the GameCube, followed by two sequels, a prequel, and three spinoffs.
The most recent entry in the series, Metroid Prime Remastered, was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2023 to critical acclaim. The remaster fixed outdated controls and added improved visuals, allowing the classic shooter to shine once more. While Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is currently slated as a Switch title, there is speculation it might also appear on Nintendo’s successor to the Switch.
Fans will have to wait until 2025 to embark on this new adventure with Samus Aran. The reveal of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has reinvigorated excitement among fans, promising another thrilling chapter in the beloved series. As more details emerge, anticipation for Samus Aran’s next mission will continue to grow.
