Apple has announced the rollout of Apple Intelligence, a personal intelligence system that combines the power of generative models with personal context. The system is set to start next month with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

The new iPhone 16 lineup was also introduced, featuring the faster and more efficient A18 and A18 Pro chips. These models are built with Apple Intelligence in mind, making them the most advanced iPhones to date.

Initial support for Apple Intelligence will launch in U.S. English, with localized versions expanding to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. in December. Additional language support, including Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish, will follow next year. Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into the Apple ecosystem.

It harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, streamline app interactions, and simplify everyday tasks. Many models operate on-device to maintain user privacy, while Private Cloud Compute increases computational capacity for more demanding tasks.

Apple Intelligence rollout details

Initial features include writing tools, photo enhancements, audio recording and summarization in Notes and Phone apps, notification summaries, and an enhanced Siri with natural language understanding and a new glowing light design. More Apple Intelligence features will be released later this year and beyond. Upcoming capabilities include Image Playground and Image Wand, Emoji Generator, and an advanced Siri with context-aware responses and integration with ChatGPT.

Apple Intelligence prioritizes user privacy with extensive on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute ensuring data stays secure. Data for complex requests is only used to fulfill specific needs without being stored or shared. Additionally, ChatGPT integrations include built-in privacy protections, and users can access these features without creating accounts.

Apple Intelligence will be available as a free software update, with betas rolling out next month. It will be compatible with iPhone 16 series, selected iPhone 15 models, and devices using M1 and later, supporting U.S. English initially. Expanded language and platform support will arrive over the next year.
