Google has officially released the software development kit (SDK) for Android 3.0, aka “Honeycomb.” Unlike the 2.x versions of Android, this release is designed to support the larger screen sizes of tablet PCs. For developers, key features in the release include new UI components, updated themes, richer widgets and notifications, drag and drop, a built-in renderer for 2D effects and support for 3D animations.
At the same time, the company pushed out updates to its SDK Tools (r10) and ADT Plugin for Eclipse (10.0.0), which include improvements to the UI Builder.
