Acer unveils Swift 14 AI Copilot+ PC

Swift Copilot

Acer has unveiled the Swift 14 AI, the first Copilot+ PC, in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and Microsoft. This groundbreaking device marks a new era of artificial intelligence, featuring cutting-edge user interfaces and AI capabilities on Windows 11. The Swift 14 AI comes in several variants, powered by the Snapdragon X Plus and Elite platforms, which boast one of the world’s fastest NPUs for on-device AI computation.

This enables users to handle complex workloads more efficiently and accelerate routine tasks. Jerry Kao, COO of Acer Inc., stated, “Designed for AI from the ground up, the Swift 14 AI is the first of many Acer Copilot+ PCs.” These next-generation AI PCs represent significant advancements in AI processing power, unlocking new experiences that users will love.

Microsoft’s Mark Linton, VP of Device Partner Sales, expressed excitement about working with Acer to bring AI technology to its range of Windows PCs.

Our collaboration has been crucial in delivering productive and secure PCs that balance style, performance, and affordability, making technology accessible and sustainable. With the launch of Swift 14 AI, we will bring new AI experiences to life, leveraging both on-device and cloud AI to empower individuals and organizations,” Linton said. Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Compute & Gaming at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., highlighted the capabilities of the Snapdragon X Elite platform, stating, “Equipped with the world’s fastest NPU for laptops and high-performance CPU cores, the Swift 14 AI delivers groundbreaking AI capabilities, enhancing productivity and creativity and setting a new standard for AI-enabled laptops.”

The Acer Swift 14 AI promises to revolutionize how users interact with their devices by introducing innovative AI-powered experiences.

Acer’s advanced AI processing power

At first glance, the Acer Swift 14 AI Copilot+ PC resembles its x86-variant counterpart, with minor differences such as a new logo on the trackpad and a Snapdragon X Elite sticker instead of the usual Intel or AMD sticker. Despite its familiar appearance, the device offers a unique user experience.

The software user experience on the Acer Swift felt fluid, likely due to its high-resolution, high-refresh-rate 2.5K panel with good touch support. The device introduces new features, such as Recall, which takes screenshots in the background and arranges them in a timeline, allowing users to revisit previous tasks on the PC. This feature is powered by the neural processing unit (NPU) and on-device generative AI capabilities, made possible by the Snapdragon X Elite’s Hexagon NPU, which provides up to 45 TOPs of AI performance.

Another impressive feature is the Paint Cocreator, a generative AI-powered tool that converts sketches into images in real-time. This feature works best with touch input and stylus support, and the results from Cocreator were quite impressive during testing. The Acer Swift 14 AI Copilot+ PC seems to deliver on its promise, offering a blend of a PC and a Mac experience.

Qualcomm and Microsoft assure that the device’s performance and battery life surpass that of both traditional Windows PCs and Silicon-powered MacBooks. Although the time spent with the device was limited, the Acer Swift 14 AI feels like a well-executed Copilot+ PC, delivering a familiar Windows experience with innovative new features.
