Amazfit T-Rex 3 smartwatch review: rugged and reliable

Rugged Smartwatch

The Amazfit T-Rex 3 is a rugged smartwatch that builds upon the success of its predecessor, the T-Rex 2. It features a larger 1.5-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, making it more visible in bright outdoor conditions. The watch also has a stainless steel bezel for a premium feel and durability.

One of the standout features of the T-Rex 3 is its impressive battery life. It comes with a 700mAh battery that promises up to 27 days of typical usage and 180 hours in maximum GPS mode. This makes it a reliable companion for those who spend long periods away from charging points.

The T-Rex 3 offers a comprehensive suite of sports and health features, including over 177 sports modes tailored for extreme athletes. It also introduces new features such as a Readiness Score and Sleep Heart Rate Variability (HRV) for more detailed analysis of sleep quality and overall fitness. In terms of navigation, the T-Rex 3 comes with dual-band GPS, multiple satellite system support, and free offline maps with contour maps and turn-by-turn directions.

Rugged design and top-tier features

This makes it suitable for serious adventurers who need real-time navigation in remote areas. The watch also integrates OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology, which powers the Zepp Flow assistant.

This AI-based feature allows users to control their watch through voice commands and even send speech-to-text replies. Zepp Flow also provides AI coaching to help users manage their workouts and daily activities more efficiently. The T-Rex 3 is designed for extreme conditions, with 10 ATM water resistance that allows it to be submerged up to 100 meters.

It also offers certification for freediving up to 147 feet and can handle temperatures ranging from 158°F (70°C) to -22°F (-30°C). In terms of pricing, the Amazfit T-Rex 3 is expected to be priced around Rs. 34,999 in India and €299 and $299 in Europe and the US, respectively.

While it is more expensive than the T-Rex 2, the additional features and upgrades make it a compelling option for outdoor enthusiasts and athletes who want the latest in smartwatch technology.
