Amazon launched a new $79 Echo Spot alarm clock. The device features a redesigned display and better audio quality. It is the first upgrade to the Echo Spot since Amazon introduced it in 2017.
Amazon is bringing Echo Spot back, after years of ignoring it. I'm glad better sense has prevailed. https://t.co/lcbBfpphNc #Amazon #PrimeDay

I haven't gotten one in to test, but this one should be pretty simple: @amazon redesigned the Echo Spot. Great bedside form factor for Alexa (weather, news reports, podcasts, time, alarms, light controls, etc.), NO camera, better sound. $45 Prime Day deal https://t.co/Fc7ysti13n

The new Echo Spot alarm clock has a display where users can check the time and weather or see what song is playing. Amazon also put in a better speaker. It delivers more precise vocals and deeper bass to enhance the audio experience.
The previous version of the device cost $129. It had a semicircle design with a full-size display and a camera. The updated Echo Spot is being offered to Amazon’s $139-per-year Prime program members for $44.99 through July 17.
No line-out, though, which is annoying. I use a Spot (with a line out) to connect to an external pair of speakers in one room, and an ancient Dot in another room to do the same. https://t.co/5OVbf9nLr2

This update comes as Amazon is expected to overhaul Alexa, the voice assistant that powers its smart speakers.
The #EchoSpot is back. I'm liking the redesign, and enhanced visuals for this smart display type. Also, can't be this launch deal. https://t.co/ptFc7OG1dS

The company usually makes many announcements about its Echo and Alexa lines at its fall event in September. The Amazon Echo Spot is a smart home hub, speaker, alarm clock, and more.
Amazon introduces improved Echo Spot
The compact 1.73-inch speaker fits neatly on a nightstand. It clearly displays the time, weather updates, song titles, and more.
It can connect to other Alexa-enabled devices to help you automate daily tasks. These include turning on your lights, locking the doors, and even turning on your coffee maker. The design is user-friendly with three buttons on the top for volume control and muting the device.
The Alexa-enabled Amazon Spot smart alarm clock was discontinued in 2019. It was replaced by the popular Amazon Echo in 2020 and the sleek Amazon Echo Pop in 2023. The 2024 Amazon Echo Spot marks the first reintroduction of the Spot since 2019.
Amazon’s smart speakers are known for their reliability and ease of use. The Amazon Echo is a favorite smart speaker thanks to its rich sound, built-in temperature sensor for smart thermostat automation, and multi-room speaker functionality. The Echo Pop offers decent sound quality for such a tiny device, with playful colors that add personality to any space.
Stay tuned to Amazon’s newsletters and announcements for more information and updates on the new Echo Spot. The device is expected to be popular during the upcoming Amazon Prime Day 2024 sales event on July 16-17.
