Reliance Jio, India’s largest mobile network operator, is facing a widespread outage affecting millions of users across the country. Customers are reporting issues with mobile internet services, Jio Fiber, and other Jio services in multiple regions, including Punjab, Odisha, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu. Outage tracker NetBlocks confirmed the disruption, stating, “Metrics show a disruption to leading India Internet provider Reliance Jio (AS55836) affecting multiple regions, corroborating user reports of widespread outages.”
Cloudflare Radar also reported that Reliance Jio faced a nationwide disruption starting at 07:45 UTC, with traffic dropping as much as 53 percent compared to the previous week.
Recovery began at 08:30 UTC. Users have taken to social media platforms to express their frustration, with one user on X (formerly known as Twitter) commenting, “#Jio network is down for Google, Swiggy & major websites. Whereas, WhatsApp, Jio’s own platforms seem to be working okay.”
Another user mentioned difficulties in reaching customer care, saying, “Internet speed has gone very low, and when I tried to talk to customer support, they simply ended the call.”
The outage has not only affected Reliance Jio users but also impacted several online services across India, including Twitter, Google, Snapchat, and Amazon Prime Video.
Reliance Jio users report major disruptions
Popular gaming platforms like Garena Free Fire, Clash of Clans, and Roblox are also experiencing disruptions. According to Downdetector, reports of the outage began flooding in around 1:44 PM IST on Tuesday from numerous cities across India, including Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Ranchi, Kolkata, Cuttack, Nagpur, Surat, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Guwahati.
As of now, there has been no official statement from Reliance Jio or the government regarding the cause of this massive outage. It may be related to a national server issue, and a resolution could be underway. The widespread nature of the outage suggests a potential nationwide network failure rather than an isolated incident involving a single company’s server.
The situation is developing, and users await further clarification from officials and a quick resolution to the service disruptions.
