Ring’s new Battery Doorbell offers improvements

Battery Doorbell

Ring has unveiled its new Battery Doorbell, a $100 wireless option that incorporates significant upgrades inspired by Google’s latest Nest Doorbells. The new Ring Battery Doorbell maintains the familiar design of previous models and comes in Satin Nickel and Venetian Bronze finishes. However, it offers several notable improvements, such as a battery life that is approximately 25% longer under average settings and the addition of color night vision.

A new mounting system has been introduced, allowing users to easily remove the doorbell from its mount for recharging. This system is similar to the one used in Google’s Nest Doorbell (battery model). Another major upgrade is the change in video aspect ratio.

The latest Ring Battery Doorbell now uses a 1:1 aspect ratio, replacing the previous 16:9 layout.

Battery Doorbell sees key upgrades

This change enhances the visibility of the area directly in front of your door, which is particularly useful for spotting packages.

This upgrade mirrors what Google implemented in its new Nest Doorbell lineup. At $100, Ring’s new offering is more affordable than Google’s Nest Doorbell, which costs $179 for both its wired and battery-powered models. The Ring Battery Doorbell is set to compete in the smart home market, offering users an economical yet advanced option for home security.

The new Ring Battery Doorbell is available for preorder today at Ring and Amazon, priced at $100. It will start shipping out to customers on September 4, just in time for the holiday season. The introduction of advanced features and a brand-new mounting mechanism, all while keeping the price affordable, makes the new Ring Battery Doorbell a compelling option for those new to video doorbells and those with older models.
