Samsung has introduced a new design for its smartwatches with the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The watch features a circular display set on a square chassis, resembling traditional luxury watches. This sets it apart from previous Galaxy Watch models.
One standout feature of the Galaxy Watch Ultra is the Quick button, located between the home/power and back keys. This button has a circular shape with an orange highlight and can be customized by the user. By default, the Quick button launches the My Exercises section of the Samsung Health app, allowing users to quickly start tracking a workout.
However, users can reassign the button to other apps or functions, such as the flashlight, stopwatch, or water lock mode. The button can be set to trigger its assigned function with either a single press or a double press, or it can be disabled entirely. Users can customize the Quick button directly on the watch or via a connected phone.
Quick button customization options
On the watch, open the settings menu, navigate to Buttons and Gestures » Action, and select the desired feature to assign to the button. On the phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app, go to Watch Settings » Buttons and Gestures, and make the desired changes.
The Quick button also includes a safety feature that activates an emergency siren. To sound the built-in siren, hold the button for more than five seconds. The siren starts at a low volume for the first ten seconds before switching to a high-pitched sound that can be heard up to 180 meters away.
The user also has the option to dial the local emergency number. While this feature adds a layer of security, it cannot be assigned to other functions. However, it can be disabled from the Buttons and Gestures menu in the watch settings.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra’s Quick button offers users a convenient way to access frequently used apps and functions. With its customizable nature and emergency siren feature, it enhances the overall user experience and adds a layer of safety to the device.
